The Sacramento river in Redding
Our River trail bikeride
The Trinity River on our way over to the coast
Wild Elk! These are the females and a few young males. They are tall like cows but slender!
Fern Canyon in the Redwood forests
These trees all grew from one trunk, with a comfortable base inside for us to eat our picnic!
Massive trees!
Loving being out in nature....
The size of the tree trunks compared to little Giovanni at the base!
Our dear friend and tour guide Leslie!
The coastal end to the 12 km hike through the redwoods, where there was a wild male elk that I had to walk past alone! Required a deep breath....as there are signs all over saying do not approach wild elk..DANGER! He kept looking at me but he was fine...
Another male elk....
The gorgeous Smith river where we stopped for lunch and a swim...
The trail to Whiskey Creek Falls...
Giovanni made delicious pizza and as you can see was very happy with the results!
Camping out at Stuarts Fork at the base of the Trinity Alps..
Drinking tea upon waking....not bad!
Still waking up..
Music with Mike...
Boulder Creek along the way on another 12 km hike....
Trinity Alps...
The rangers who do trail repair from the Californian Conservation Corps come in only via horse and mules packed behind them with tools, camping equipment and food for the workers every few days. Pretty narrow little trail to follow up and down the hills..... There is no other way in or out.
The drumming buddies...a match made in heaven!
Learning some old time American favourites......
Our trip on Whiskeytown Lake, another stunning day!
C'e la vie!
Saying goodbye to our generous hosts!!
