California dreaming

Ready to get on the plane!
Exhausted before even starting! Word of advice: Don't ever try finish a degree, pack up a house and organise a year away all in one week!
 Arrived safe and sound.
This is our new van...picked up in LA.

The lovely Mexican family we bought it from..
Believe it or not this is on Hollywood Freeway trying to get out of LA, struggling with jetlag, driving on the other side of the road and 12 lane highways!!
Our first stop to sleep near a lake, where we could chill in the morning..

 Happy for hot balmy weather!

The scenery up the north inland road of California..

The dry hills along the way...
The remote town called Westley where we broke down! At least there was a mechanic nearby although he couldn't fit us in for 12 hrs.....
The helpful men who we spent the day with...
The other crew who helped us out the following day when we broke down again!! And it took another whole day of waiting around and changing parts ect. But finally we hit the road again.....

Happy to be in our little Dodge van, hoping it would prove to not be too dodgy!
Finally arrived safe and sound in beautiful Redding, near the Redwood forests in the north of California...Our friends, who we met 7 years ago in Thailand.

Giovanni chilling out in the divine garden....
The picture perfect house....complete with a beautiful guestroom, with a door to the garden, plush white towels and a quilt on the bed. Lovely......
We are now preparing to go to this big crazy festival called Burning Man, out in the Nevada desert, leaving on Tuesday. Today we shopped up for 8 days food and water. I will be out of touch for that time and then I'll do another blog. The weather is beautifully balmy even into the evening!
Lots of love
Jess and Giovanni~
